The Manly Union each year offers financial assistance on a needs basis for students for the diocesan priesthood or permanent diaconate in any Australian diocese. The assistance is for special needs over and above seminary fees, and the normal levels of personal support provided by each diocese.
Applications should be made on an e-form on this website, between 16 April and 5 June 2024. The Manly Union Executive will then meet in June and consider the fairest way to distribute available funds in the light of all applications. Payments of grants will be made following the June meeting. Applicants are asked to provide details of the support received from other sources. Seminary Rectors or Directors of Houses of Formation may also be contacted in order to obtain further information in relation to applications.
For 2024, the Manly Executive will give priority to the applications of two groups of students:
i) 2nd Year seminary students
ii) Students who have received candidacy and are thought to be within 1 year of diaconate ordination.
