Purpose

The objects of the Manly Union are:

St Patrick's Day Luncheon

What we've done and are doing?

The Manly Union was formed in 1914 to "encourage and assist Australian vocations to the priesthood." It was founded from St Patrick's Seminary, Manly, which had been established by Cardinal Moran as a national seminary for that purpose in 1889. Its membership was drawn from priests who had studied at Manly, and  St Columba's College, Springwood.

Even with the development of seminaries in other parts of NSW and other States of Australia, and then closure of St Patrick's at Manly, the Manly Union has always retained a national outlook and focus. It has funded students for the priesthood in all States and has more recently been supporting on-going formation programmes across Australia.

It is through the generous financial contributions from clergy and laity that Manly Union has been able to assist in these programmes.

Now we are inviting every priest and deacon working in the Catholic Church in Australia to join the Manly Union and assist in achieving the goals of this historic Australian Association.
